That female juv. gos was back at my house. I saw her soaring. I almost
brushed her off as a redtail but there was SOMETHING different about her. I
looked over to see how the pigeons were reacting and they were quite
nervous. So...it was a gos, I got a good look at her until I lost her. Then
a female cooper's came by too. An accipiter made a flight at the pigeons, my
guess is that it was pressing them hard because they were VERY nervous,
flying high above the accipiter, and cutting circles sharply and staying
very tight in the flock. The bird then went over to the other side of my
'hood and went after some other pigeons, then some starlings. When it landed
on a tree and then took off, it's attack at the starlings was a slow start,
not like a female cooper's which is possible that's what the bird was, but
its slow start was very like that of a gos. I think it might have been the
same gos, but I can't say for sure. There were a lot of hints as to its
behavior in flight, hunting etc. that pointed to gos.
