Hello All,
Today on one of our Niger thistle feeders was a male American Goldfinch in molt. The cap was black, nape bright yellow with spotty bright yellow on the side neck. The scapulars were a fresh bright yellow. We normaly do not see this change until early March. So breeding starts in March. YOUNG fledged by end of April and migration starts the third week of May. Is this how our spring will run this year? Later Mike
