Tweeters readers,

The inaugural Washington Brant Festival will take place on April 12-13 at the
Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA. The area around Semiahmoo boasts some of the
best winter birding in the Northwest at nearby Birch Bay, Drayton Harbor, and
Semiahmoo Bay; the latter two comprise one of the 53 Important Bird Areas in
Washington state.
The Washington Brant Festival is a celebration of the little known Brant
goose and coincides with the staging of Brant and other water birds for the
annual migration to their northern breeding grounds.
Displays, presentations, wildlife art, and an evening banquet highlight the
festival. There will be something for everyone, as well as an opportunity to
enjoy the great winter birding in northern Whatcom County.
Visit the Washington Brant Foundation's website <www.washingtonbrant.org> for
more information.
The North Cascades Audubon Society plans to have three or four scope-equipped
viewing locations in the area to assist new visitors to the county. You may
contact me, as well, if you'd like to be involved. Either way, come on up to
Whatcom County and enjoy the spectacle.

Visit the North Cascades Audubon's nationally-recognized website
<www.northcascadesaudubon.org> for additional birding info for Whatcom
County. Click on the Locations page under the Birding menu on the home page
and download a map of county hotspots.
