A while back, I asked for advice about purchasing a digital camera. I want to say thanks to the many tweeters who responded. I purchased a Canon Powershot S30, with a 3 megapixel resolution. This is my first digital camera. I'm thrilled with how you can take a bunch of pictures without having to worry about spending the money to develop bad shots.

An influx of robins provided a good opportunity today to take a shot at digiscoping. Robins are great digiscoping practice material: big, slow, and predictable.

I got better pictures than I expected for a first try, but there are a few unexpected problems. I need an adaptor for the camera to telescope link so I don't have to search for the field of view. It's difficult to get even lighting through a scope, which would probably be solved by an adaptor.
A bigger problem is that I can't really see what's happening in the tiny screen. For example, I tried to get a shot of the robins clustered at the fountain. There were as many as 8 at once, but none of my many shots got more than three. Anyway, if anyone wants to look at amateur robin photos, here they are:
