Subject: osprey nests

I'll chime in again, only because I have seen an Osprey nest on a "natural" foundation. When I first moved to Washington, a pair of Ospreys occupied a large nest atop a high fir tree along the south edge of Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island. That was in 1991! There is also a very large nest above the upper parking lot at Fay-Bainbridge State Park at the north end of the island, but it may be an Eagle's aerie. I've never seen a bird in it.

Re: Osprey nests

My students have been studying ospreys in Grays Harbor for 4 years. We have
data on 4 man-made nests-2 electrical poles and 2 specifically made nesting
platforms. There are two other nests for which we don't have data- a tower
off of Hwy. 8 west of Mud Bay and another platform off Schouweiler Road in
Elma. We would love to have the complilation of nest sites, so please go
ahead on this project! We would be glad to share our info.
