Tweets - it was FOGGY this morning, and the fog didn't clear until noon.
But it wasn't too cold (though it was cold), and there was no wind.
Because the South Lot was closed, and perhaps the fog, it was very quiet
for the first couple of hours - almost no dogs, few cars, etc. It made
for better birding than we could reasonably have expected, though
admittedly a lot of birds were Heard Only.

Highlights:

Common Goldeneye 2 near windmill late
Common Merganser 2 males near windmill early
WILSON'S SNIPE 1 flushed from near weir
VIRGINIA RAIL 1 heard across from Dog Central
Brown Creeper 1 heard well near mansion, later seen by Matt
Winter Wren 1 heard singing
Marsh Wren 1 heard singing
Lincoln's Sparrow 1 seen well at Compost Piles
Western Meadowlark 3 in East Meadow
Purple Finch 2 females seen NE of last dog swim area
Pine Siskin About 8 seen N of Dog Central

After the main walk, I was doing some restoration and other work at the
park, and added a few birds:

Bald Eagle Nice adult in SE part of park
Greater Scaup 1 male on lake
Belted Kingfisher 1 male on lake
MERLIN Flyby near weir

Yesterday, I also walked the park. Additional highlights:

HORNED GREBE 1 well out on lake
Cooper's Hawk 1 near climbing wall
Townsend's Warbler 1 male near mansion

Laura had a LONG-TAILED WEASEL near the first dog swim area.

Almost all the Oso Berry/Indian Plum are blooming, at least partially.
The european Hazelnuts have catkins. At least one willow had nice
pussywillow buds. Lots of stuff has swollen buds.

For the morning, 46 species, for the day, 51 species, for the week, 55
species.

For the year (adding Cooper's Hawk, Virginia Rail and Townsend's Warbler)
70 species.
