Hello, this is the Audubon society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday February 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On February 4 a RUFF was reported from southeast Salem behind the Shop Co
Store near the junction of Lancaster Drive and Hwy 22. The two RUFFS in West
Eugene continue to be seen. The Wilsonville VERMILION FLYCATCHER, the
Florence BALTIMORE ORIOLE, and the southeast Portland BLUE JAY continue to
be reported.

On February 2 RUFOUS and ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRDS were at New River south of
Bandon. That day one began coming to a feeder in Waldport. On February 1 a
YELLOWTHROAT was at the Twilight Eagle Sanctuary east of Astoria.

A third winter plumaged GLAUCOUS GULL was in Vancouver January 31. On
February 4, 82 GREAT EGRETS and 8 SHORT-EARED OWLS were in Scappoose
Bottoms. Over 100 SANDHILL CRANES are now on Sauvie Island. The PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER is still near Tangent east of Corvallis. On February 3 four
VULTURES were north of Corvallis. There are now 24 TRUMPETER SWANS south of
Monmouth.

The female COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD is still defending a feeder in Eugene. It is
the nesting period for that species. The closely related ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS
are already on eggs. On February 5 an EMPEROR GOOSE was at Fern Ridge
Reservoir near the end of Royal Avenue. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was near White
City in the Rogue Valley February 1.

A RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER has been drilling a hole all week near Powell Butte
east of Redmond. Two SCRUB-JAYS are now in Ukiah in Umatilla County. Over
5000 COMMON GOLDENEYES are now gathered on the Snake River north of Farewell
Bend State Park.
