My wife Pipper and decided to do quick trip to Ocean Shores
yesterday for some mid-winter birding. I was surprised by the lack of
birdlife except for some large flocks of Dunlin, Sanderling and Black
Turnstones. Late yesterday afternoon, however, in the shrub/dune area
between the town and beach, I watched 8 Y-rWs, Myrtle race, flying about
feeding on bay-myrtle berries. There was a cold wind blowing from the east
at about 20mph with no insect activity noticed. The birds very in good
condition and seemed content, pearching up for good looks.
Good birding
