I met John Hebert at the Toppenish Wildlife Refuge today and we
birded the refuge and also along Pumphouse Rd, Lateral "C", Marion
Drain, and Dry Creek. We enjoyed good weather and quite a few good
birds. Maybe John can fill us in if their are any birds I fail to list.

Birds seen (in taxonomic order):

Pied-billed Grebe
Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose
Swan species (most likely Tundra Swan)
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
Northern Pintail
Green-Winged Teal
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Bald Eagle (4 adults and 1 immature)
Northern Harrier
Cooper's Hawk (several)
Red-tailed Hawk
Rough-legged Hawk (At least 2 possibly 3 first I've seen this winter)
American Kestrel
Prairie Falcon (along marion Drain East of Old Goldendale Rd.)
Ring-necked Pheasant
California Quail
Virginia Rail
American Coot
Killdeer (also had 1 unidentified shorebird fly by the observation deck on
the refuge)
Rock Dove
Mourning Dove
Great Horned Owl
Short-eared Owl (flew up from the sage along Pumphouse Rd., did not give
good look)
