Greetings All,

On 7 Feb 03 Roger Orness and I birded a half day. Starting at Wenatchee we
quickly found the adult light morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk that is
wintering at Wenatchee. We found it on a power pole along US 97 ALT about .5
mile north of US 2. This birds winter territory is centered at the junction
of US 2 and US 97 ALT. It can be found perched on light standards along the
highways there as well as power poles. This bird was first seen here 29 Nov
02.

We then continued across the US 2 bridge and turned right on SR 28. North of
East Wenatchee we spotted an adult dark morph Harlans Red-tailed Hawk
perched on a pole in an orchard. This was just west of SR 28 and north of 29
St NW.

We then continued on SR 28 and turned up the Pallisades Rd [Delorme page 67,
B8]. The Pallisades Road goes up the lower section of Moses Coulee. At MP
1.4 is a nice pull-off. Here was a singing Canyon Wren and a Pacific Tree
Frog, giving its long grating call. A little farther up the road was a
Prairie Falcon on a pole. At MP 7.7 we watched a pair of Golden Eagles. One
of them was seen bringing a stick to a nest site up on the cliff.
A little farther up the road was a third Golden Eagle.
