Yes, Kinkos can split the binding of a large field guide and spiral bind the
two parts. I add a clear cover, a back, and a few blank pages in the Plates
section. I use my scanner and printer to make a duplicate front cover for the
Plates. Some field guides have black and white prints that are separate from
the color prints. Having the book split gives one the opportunity to move
pages around and include what you want in the "new" field guide. The plates
guide is bound in a coil spiral and the remaining portion, the text, is bound
in a flat-type binding. Entire cost is about $12.00.

I'll also add that while on an East Lake Washington Audubon field trip to
Camano Island on Saturday, we saw a Great Horned Owl on Eide Rd. It was
perched in the brush next to the dike, south of the boarded up house. The
owl then flew to the bare tree on the right that has a medium-sized nest in
it. It finally flew up and over the dike and down the otherside. Everyone
got good views of the owl while remaining in their cars. There were also
many Western Meadowlarks in the area, particularly at the end of Eide Rd.
