Good afternoon Tweets:

Seeing all the Email messages about crows, eagles et al harassments
reminds me of the time during the early 1960's when I was the lone
refuge biologist at Malheur N.W. Refuge. It was late spring in the
Blitzen Valley part of the refuge when I noticed a Golden Eagle being
harassed by a Praire Falcon which repeatedly dove on the eagle. Must
have made 4-5 passes at the eagle. The last time it dove on the eagle,
the eagle suddenly turned on its back, seized the falcon with its
talons, shook it a few moments then dropped it. I walked through the
field and found the falcon which was dead.

One of those sights indelibly impressed on the mind though it occured a
long time ago
