Just for the record, there is a Great Gray Owl in Whatcom County, in the
Cascades foothills southeast of Sumas. The GGOW arrived for the first time in
early January, was gone for about 3 weeks, and has returned to the same
location. The property owners are aware of the Dusky Thrush Syndrome and
prefer that the exact location remain unknown.
I would like to take this opportunity to share one of the many photos that I
took as I spent over two hours with the owl. I added a bit of video to the
archives as well, including footage of the owl as it pounced on and swallowed
a vole. It was quite an experience for me and, hopefully, the owl had a good
time, too. No word from the vole!
