The following birds were observed by Wayne Weber at Blaine, WA
between about 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM on February 3, 2003. The area
covered was mainly Marine Drive, including both the Semiahmoo Bay and
Drayton Harbor sides, but also including a brief stop in a brushy
area on the south side of town.

The tide was high during my visit, and the only shorebirds seen were
3 Greater Yellowlegs and one (1) Dunlin.

I was a bit surprised to find that the crab fishing pier at the end
of Marine Drive was closed because of construction activities.
Apparently, they are in the process of replacing the old wooden
pilings with new ones. This prevented access to one of the best
viewing areas. However, I was told at the harbor office that the
construction would be finished, and the pier reopened to the public,
by about March 1.
