Thanks to everyone who wrote with tips and ID suggestions! The Townsend's
warbler seems like the best guess to me, but since it hasn't come back, I
haven't had a closer look. There does seem to be a flicker hanging around
this week, though, which is a rare treat, and the little wren has come back
too. Peaceful pluralism, right in my backyard. Thanks again,
