Thank you to everyone who responded to my query. The general consensus is that it is an immature Red-tailed Hawk. I defer to your combined judgements - since you are all way more knowledgeable than I. I also apologize for not including my name and email address in my last posting. I'm new to this and I haven't quite figured out what I'm doing.
