Dear tweeters, Michael, Ann,

At the risk of insulting somebody, how close to the same area where your observations of what Ann reports as a white-phase Gyr Falcon ("next to I-90 near Snoqualmie" 2/19/03) and Michael reports as an albino Red-tailed Hawk ("in the I-90 median a short fir near Hwy 18" 2/18/03)?

Were the ids made at 60-70 mph? Did either of you get binoculars or a scope on the bird? Wingtip to tip-of-the-tail? White Gyr should show black markings on upper wing coverts. Was the albino Red-tail a complete albino or partial?

I will be driving I-90 soon and would love more detailed information from both of you about how and what you saw. Although either bird would warrant a closer look.

Thanks in advance,
Martin Muller, Seattle
