Hi Mike and Tweeters,

I did the BBC this year. I consider Cavanaugh ponds my backyard and I did have one Greater White Fronted Goose in the ponds. I think it and it's buddies have visited before because I recognized a Canada Goose hybrid I have seen before and the last time I saw it (2 winters ago) it was in a small flock with a Greater White Fronted Goose. The hybrid has to be
mixed with a domestic goose because his/her demeanor is much like some of the domestic geese I have met. Noisy and bossy. The Wood Ducks are back as well and I enjoyed getting to see them.

Last winter I saw Hairy Woodpeckers at the ponds all the time but not this year.

To change the subject, I meant to post that I tried for the Snohomish Gyr again, fully geared up now with a scope this last weekend. No luck with the Gyr, but I did get to see a falcon in Snohomish, a Kestrel. Also for anyone interested who like unusual colored birds there is a Canada Goose in the field where the Gyr likes to hang out that has a completely black neck and head. Also on Short School Road I saw a crow with mostly white flight feathers. The coverts were black. The flight feathers seemed to me to have blackish tips and a black line along the shaft and the feathers also seemed to be translucently white rather than pure white. It was definitely an interesting looking crow.
