Today while scanning the large Snow Goose flock on Fir Island for a
possible dark morp bird, we came across 3-4 small "cackler" size Canada
Geese. One in paticular had a wide distinct white band at the base if the
neck. The rest of the body was fairly dark with a dusky grey neck, and the
bill appeared a little larger than the other small geese. It then
disappeared before we could get a good look at the head shape. I observed
the bird with Bob Norton and he felt that it was a possible Aleutian. Any
comments would be welcome since this is a first for me.
