Greetings,

On Feb 25, I explored and birded two sections of the Wells Wildlife Area in
north Douglas County: on the Bridgeport Bar and at Central Ferry Canyon.
Delorme Atlas Page 100, D 2 and 3. On the way to the area from Wenatchee, I
made one stop along the Columbia River between Daroga and the Beebe Bridge
at MP 228, US 97.

Pacific Loon...One on the Columbia River at MP 228, US 97.

Swamp Sparrow...One seen very well as it foraged along the shore of small
pond. Park at the sharp bend along Grange Rd 1.4 miles from SR 173. At the
wildlife area access here are two small ponds. The Swamp Sparrow was at the
pond closest to the lake. Both Patrick Sullivan and Rick Hendricks have
reported this species in the area recently.

American Tree Sparrow...4 present around the same pond where the Swamp
Sparrow was seen.

2 Townsend's Solitaires, 1 Orange-crowned Warbler and 2 Lincoln's Sparrows
were at other wildlife area access points on the Bridgeport Bar.

A flock of 30 Bohemian Waxwings, a Hairy Woodpecker and 20 Pygmy Nuthatches
were seen at Central Ferry Canyon at the Packwood Cemetary area. The short
road to the cemetary is on the left about 4.8 miles up Central Ferry Cyn Rd
from Cranes Rd.

My first Yellow Pine Chipmunks of the year were two along Central Ferry Cyn
Rd.

Good Birding,
