The BC Night-Herons at the traditional site along the Fir I Rd. seemed to
diminish in numbers before the clearing at the site that Paul mentions,
although there's little doubt that the removal of the vegetation will
discourage them from returning. I had a single BC Night-Heron at a small
slough near the Snow Goose (Hayton) access nearby back in January. It seems
possible that the birds may still be in the area, given the number of small
sloughs nearby that are, however, mostly on private property.
