I've had several photos/links to photos of the subject loon emailed to me.
They are distant and not sharp but it looks to me like they are of a Common
Loon based on size and shape of the head and bill. In one photo a bird that
looks like a "Pacific-type" Loon is in the foreground and appears to be
similar in size to the presumed Common (but this could be due to distance
between the 2 birds and the observer).

I could post these photos (and any others available) with the permission of
the photographers. I suspect a good, sharp photo and detailed description
will be necessary to nail down this bird. (I'd be interested in taking a
look myself but have a Christmas count to coordinate this weekend and have
no photo capabilities!)
