This is the Vancouver Natural History Societies Rare Bird Alert for Saturday
January 4th noon update, sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited
Stores in Vancouver
and North Vancouver.

The feature birds are: AMERICAN AVOCET and MARBLED GODWIT.

Sightings for Friday, January 3rd

The wintering MARBLED GODWIT was seen with a flock of
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS near the intersection of Highway
17 and 34B street in Delta.

There was an EARED GREBE about 1 mile out on the Iona
north jetty and at the Alaksen Wildife Refuge in Ladner was a NORTHERN
SHRIKE.

Thursday, January 2nd

The AMERICAN AVOCET was relocated at Blackie Spit in
White Rock. Also at this location was a flock of 4 WESTERN
MEADOWLARKS.

At Beach Grove Lagoon in Tsawwassen a SHORT-EARED OWL
was reported.

Wednesday, January 1st

There were 4 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS 2m & 2f with a
large flock of Blackbirds along 68th Street near 60th Ave in Delta.

Tuesday, December 31st

Out of town the HOODED WARBLER was again reported in
Duncan at Glenora Road and Miller Road.
