I've made 4 trips to the Snohomish area looking for the gyr. My most recent
trip was just before Christmas. I didn't see any gyr but I did enjoy seeing
and scoping the dark phase Red-tailed Hawk and the 150 Trumpeter Swans.
During the most recent trip I stopped to watch a male Northern Harrier feed
on a squashed gray squirrel. The harrier was standing in the middle of the
westbound lane of School House Rd. I pulled off to the side of the road,
facing west. Cars and trucks drove eastbound; the bird didn't flinch.
