I've made 4 trips to look for the Snohomish Gyrfalcon. The most recent trip
was just before Christmas. I didn't find a gyr, but I scoped a dark phase
Red-tailed Hawk and about 150 Trumpeter Swans. During the recent scouting
trip I watched as a male Northern Harrier ate on a squashed gray squirrel.
The harrier was standing in the westbound lane of School House Rd. I parked
in a driveway to observe this handsome bird without disturbing it. However,
when cars and trucks drove eastbound on the two-lane road, the bird didn't
flinch.
