Subject: Red Phalaropes in the Nisqually Reach

Yesterday I was out on the sound exploring with my youngest daughter. We
found a flock of eight Red Phalaropes feeding in the rip off Lyle Point on
Anderson Island, along with hundreds of Bonaparte's Gulls. Looks like we
have a reprieve from the successive rounds of wind, so I'm guessing that the
phalaropes will be heading back to sea soon - but who knows, they looked
pretty content hanging out in the rip.
