It's been more than ten years now, maybe fifteen, but Barn Owls used to
roost in the Twin Barns. Two, though, not hundreds. I believe that they
fell victim to the Great-horned Owls that have taken up permanent residence
in the nearby woods.

Many swallows - barn, cliff, and violet-green - roost in the barns and
sometimes boil out in clouds. It sounds as though Nisqually lore may be
getting slightly distorted with the passage of time...

??? There is a resident Great Horned Owl. He comes in to eat the Barn
Owls. They have not been seeing the Great Horned Owl near the twin barns in
the daylight. He apparently roosts in the deep woods over near the
Nisqually river, and just north of the trail to the Riparian Forest."
