But american wigeon and ducks in particular are very hard to catch because
they have many ways of getting out of the way. If a duck sees an eagle
coming, and decides it's hunting and is hunting them, they will move way
before that eagle can come. Gulls seem to have this false sence of security
sometimes. The adults know (the more experience adults) not to tangle with
an eagle. But juv. aren't too sure sometimes. They probably get confused by
the eagles not paying attention to them while feeding right next to them and
then they're being chased! Very hard to figure out. :) What time of day did
you see this? I go to school very close by, everett high. I'll go check that
area out now that we have some active eagle activity!!!
