There is a bit more to the Ian Fleming - James Bond connection. Ian Fleming lived in the Caribbean not far from where James Bond, the ornithologist, lived most of his life (although he was curator of Birds at the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences for many years as well), and knew both James Bond and the field guide that he had written. Ian Fleming was, in fact, rather displeased that Ian Fleming used his name for the 007 character. All of this is discussed in detail in a biography about James Bond (the ornithologist). I believe the author is his wife.
