Today my mother and I birded several familiar areas in the Elma-Brady area,including Brady Loop Rd. and along the entire Wenzel Slough Rd. area. Despite rainy comnditions we managed to locate a few highlights for the day that have been recently reported in the general area. We checked along Moore Rd.,but were unable to relocate the Ruff with only the Greater Yellowlegs being found at the same vicinity than in previous visits in a flooded area. Most notable highlights today included up to 5 Swamp Sparrows at the same location that we located them in previous visits along Wenzel Slough Rd. with very good looks at all the birds in an extensive,grassy/weedy field along with the lingering adult White-tailed Kite nearby in the same vicinity. The Swamp Sparrows unlike past visits were fairly unvocal upon immediate "pishing",but the birds all popped into view with more lengthy pishing allowing great views before returning back into the thick cover of the wet thick,grassy field. A sparrow flock closer to the main road produced an adult tan-striped White-throated Sparrow,being one of two for the day. An entire list of our main highlights for the day follows:
