Hi Tweeters,

Since raptors are high on the list of WNV victims, and crows are on top, I'm
wondering what happens if a raptor eats an infected crow? When I originally
read about WNV, the documents stated it could only be passed by an infected
mosquito. Since then I have heard that it might be passed bird to bird.
Can the disease be passed to raptors like, for example, rodent poison can?
I'm asking because Saturday night my neighbor told me about "a crow that
couldn't fly" that she noticed during the day. When I investigated Sunday
all I found was a pile of feathers that looked like the leftovers of a
possible raptor attack. I know it's unlikely the crow had WNV at this time
of the year, but the incident brought the raptor question to mind..
