Tweets - the weather was unpleasant today, with steady rain and increasing
winds. The lake was covered by white-caps, and was all-but-devoid of
birds. We got pretty wet; Matt Bartel earned the appelation "Intrepid"
for sticking it out today, joining an elite group who have braved
nastiness with me.

That said, the birding wasn't too bad, if slow for extended periods.

Highlights:

GREEN HERON 1 on remains of old beaver lodge
Common Goldeneye 4 gorgeous males near windmill
Sharp-shinned Hawk Immature below the weir
MERLIN 1 flying northwest from Dog Central

We also had a Muskrat at the RC ponds, as well as what appeared to be a
mole, briefly seen.

I never sent out a report from last week, which started with a beautiful
sunrise-associated glowing (I don't think we ever actually saw the sun,
though). Highlights included:

Horned Grebe 2 out on lake
PEREGRINE FALCON Beautiful adult over grass soccer fields
Wilson's Snipe 1 at Rowing Club

Both weeks featured a single adult BALD EAGLE, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and
Lincoln's Sparrow (SW of the mansion).

Last week we had 47 species, with the Peregine and a heard Killdeer
bringing the 2003 total to 66.

This week we had 46 species (no new ones).
