My wife called me at work today to say she say a hummingbird
outside her sewing room window. Not something we expect to see
in January.
When I got home this evening, she reported:
"I was on my way to Penny's at Northgate, when this eagle flew over
with a dead crow in its grasp. It landed on a light pole directly over
me.
Within seconds every crow from everywhere was flying in and mobbing it.
It put up with this for a short time and then flew off with its prize."

An unusual day of accidental birding. Often the best kind.
