Yesterday, 1/25/03, there was an immature SNOW GOOSE in the massive flock
on Maupin Rd on Fir Island in Skagit County. The bird was dark gray,
including gray legs and feet, and gray bill. The head was covered with
white flecks.

On Friday, 1/24, I saw the unusual FOX SPARROW barely east of the
intersection of Hwy 167 and 277th St in King Co. This is the third time I
have seen this bird. The other dates were 12/20/02 and 12/27/02. This time
the bird was with 2 SOOTY FOX SPARROWS. But the bird continued to tease.
It foraged on the ground in the brambles just in from the edge. Continuous
movement of the bird also made it difficult to view and nail down field
marks. Friday it seemed there was a faint white wing bar. To find this
bird travel south from Kent on Hwy 167. Take the 277th exit and turn left
(east) crossing over 167. After turning left at the exit lite, go thru 2
lites and turn left at the third lite. Immediately you come to a feed mill.
The bird hangs out near the silo opposite the mill. A stick in the mud and
a couple bricks mark the spot. Anyone out there with a good camera
interested in Fox Sparrows? This could be a RED FOX SPARROW.
