Mary,

My wife Marianne did this when we got our first bird feeder. We had a
VERY serious squirrel problem - the little guys ate more bird food that
the birds ate! So she tried it. It worked for about 3-4 days. Then
the stuff dried and got dirty, and the little squirrel-dudes went right
back up.

So, we got a squirrel feeder and filled it with raw, shelled peanets.
Then we added a squirrel guard to the bird feeder from Wild Birds
Unlimited. Result: No more squirrels in the bird feeder.

Your mileage may vary.

Regards,

Dan.

Hello, Tweets --

I've read that greased-up PVC pipe over a pole-type feeder
hanger can be an effective squirrel/rodent deterrent. Anybody know what
kind of grease to use?? Probably not Crisco, I'd guess.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Cheers,
Mary
