I responding about the message of Daniel what he wrote on January 02.I
responding of the new Swarovski new ATS 65 HD.I waited because i had to try
this new Scope out what i purchased from Eagle Optic the beginning of
January.A birder from the UK had this scope when i birded in Ocean Shores.I
looked at the scope on the jetty and was impressed about the sharpness and
clearity of the glass I
was reading about the three 65 mm scpoes in the Dezember 2002 volme
"BIRDING " a quarterly magazine of ABA..The title says enoug "THE NEW CLASS
OF THE 65mm Spotting Scopes,by Stephen Ingraham..I will also mention that we
own a LEICA 77mm APO Scope,what got according to Cornell Laoratory of
Ornithology the highest rating for Zoom Scopes published in the" LIVING
BIRD" The rating is 1.5 ,Swarovski ST 80 HD is second with 1.8, but as a
surprise the NEW SWAROVSKI ATS 65 HD is third with a rating of 4.5
]Proable birders ask how you compare the Leica with this smal 65 mm Scope?
For the reason that this Scope ony weigh 48.3 oz. and the Leica weighing
high as 72.O oz about the highest with the 800mm Swarovski as second with
60.0. So Patrick got the scope since he carry it and beseide with otheres i
am the last person what looks to the scope.
I got my new eye piese for the Swarovski 65mm in the mail today the 30X and
it compare with the 32 XWW it looks verry clear and sharp
We birded latly and already we only been using the Swaovski 65,it have such
good body and seems more handy to get out of the car.
Comparing both Scopes side by side the Leica and the Swarovski, the Leica
lets more light in ,the lense on the Swarovski 65mm is sharp but darker.I
would mention that Swarovski have two models in the ST 80 the second is not
HD that have the quality glass .The straight ST 80 is rated as the 4th on
the list with a 4.5
I must mention to buying a Scope ,it is always better to checking out scopes
in the field in order to see if this Scope fits you Eyes or you expectation
