Hey tweets,

Got a nice surprise today after leaving a friends house. Was walking along 9th in Ballard, and heard a weird bird sound, almost like an exotic. Working at the zoo, I thought it might be the cockatiel that was out free last week that someone lost. I looked around a couple of trees and spotted a bit of blue running through the tree like a jay, and then saw a (the?) Western Scrub Jay folks have posted about before. The colors were bright blue on the wings, head and long tail, the neck nice white. What a cool bird! And better yet, my first for that species. Corner of 57th & 9th, one of the backyards, very nice looks, and totally random. I had not previously paid any attention to where this bird was supposed to be located in Ballard, and yet there it was. Another off my check list!
