Subject: Gray squirrel predators?

Once upon my youth I puzzled over some big bones in Great Horned Owl
pellets. One of my professors friends took a look and declared they were
from a gray squirrel. I would suspect that larger owls would find these
squirrels very tasty. I have a friend who routinely traps them out of his
yard (Squirrels, not owls) and gives them to a raptor rehabilitation
program.

Rod and Tweeters,

During several winters in the 1970s in Stanley Park, Vancouver, B.C.,
a NORTHERN GOSHAWK was present. It seemed to particularly target
Eastern Gray Squirrels (which have been present in the park at least
since the 1920s). Quite a few incidents of predation or attempted
predation were observed.

Unfortunately, the Northern Goshawk is generally a rare bird at all
times of year in western Washington and southwestern B.C. There seems
to be little chance that avian predators will have much impact on the
rapidly-spreading populations of the non-native Eastern Gray Squirrel.
