I've never heard of that behavior and that's a very interesting observation.
It's possible (anything is for now) that the vicitim was an outsider and the
subjects, attacking crows, where all realitives defending a ceratin
territory or something. I've never heard of crows getting that nasty towards
others unless in breeding mode and a wonderer gets to close to young, mate
or territory in general. Not sure.

P.S. I'm surprised a female cooper's didn't come in and take the victim.
Accipters have fine hearing and have learned to tune in on any alarm or
distress cries.
