Hello, this is the Audubon society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 30. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

An adult YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported January 28 near the Reeder
Beach Store on the east side of Sauvie Island. It could not be relocated.

The BLUE JAY at the Springtree Apartements in southeast Portland is still
being reported. as is the Newport INDIGO BUNTING and the Woodburn VERMILION
FLYCATCHER. The two RUFFS continue to be seen in west Eugene.

On January 28 two ROCK SANDPIPERS and a LONG-TAILED DUCK were at the South
Jetty of Yaquina Bay. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was over Netarts Bay that day.

Several thousand SNOW GEESE are now in the Sauvie Island/Ridgefield NWR
area. Five SHORT-EARED OWLS were at Scappoose Bottoms January 25 and three
were near the Portland Airport January 23. On January 29 a GLAUCOUS GULL was
at Sauvie Island. An adult was at Westmoreland Park in southeast Portland
the day before.

A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT has been at Jackson Bottom during the week. A
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was there January 27. A PRAIRIE FALCON was at the
Fernhill Wetlands January 28. Three CHIPPING SPARROWS were west of Yamhill
January 26.

The PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER continues to be seen near Tangent. A female
COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD was in Eugene January 27. A LONG-TAILED DUCK was near
Grants Pass during the week. On January 25, 15 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at
the Kirtland Road Sewage Ponds near White City.

Several BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS are now being seen in the Cache Mountain
Burn near Suttle Lake. The MOCKINBIRD is still being reported east of Bend.
A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was near Vale January 25.
