Birders,

The other day as I rode the excersize bike at the gym, I looked out the
window and saw an immature Sharp-shinned Hawk perched on the top of a 12
foot high tree stump in a neighbourhood. The bird closely watched a hedge of
cedars where a flock of House Sparrows were taking cover. Then it took
flight fluttered around the hedge, trying to scare out a sparrow.
Unsuccessful, the hawk returned to the exact same perch and repeated this
every few minutes. The feeding technique was very similar to that used by
flycatchers. It was almost sallying out for a sparrow! Anyone ever seen this
before?
