Subject: off subject regarding native Western Grey Squirrel

We have one Western Grey female adult visiting our yard feeders since
Oct. At that time logging of large trees occurred, in neighboring
woodlands. We had a one time encounter with a Barred Owl, at dusk, in
that same week. Owl either moved on, or is now hunting after twilight.
Squirrel continues to visit, very shy and secretive, but has allowed a
few pictures, There is no red on this animal, she is heavily grizzled,
and very large. Makes four of the Douglas squirrels, I understand these
Grey are protected in
Washington. Could somebody direct me to more information. I have read
about the work being done with the population in Ft. Lewis. It seems
though, that at least a census might be done here, if there's a viable
population.
