Hi Tweets:

There were good bird sightings on Tuesday at the Bob Heirman Wildlife area,
Snohomish County. Swainson's Thrush was heard and seen along with Common
Yellowthroat, Yellow Warbler, Warbling Vireo, American Goldfinch, Western
Wood-pewee, Willow Flycatcher, Mourning Dove, and Red-breasted Sapsucker. There were
Wood Duck, American Bittern and Pied-billed Grebe on the large lake. Two
juvenile Northern Harrier sat quietly in the field, then soared and softly called.
A deer was on the island and Common Merganser and Spotted Sandpiper were seen
on the river.

Moving along to south of Monroe, an Osprey was fishing at the lake at the
Monroe Honor Farm. Just as the bird took a dive, a male American Kestrel flew
and perched on a power pole. Waterfowl included breeding-plummaged Ruddy Duck,
Cinnamon Teal, Great Blue Heron, and American Coot. The leucistic Red-winged
Blackbird can be seen at nearby Two Rivers, Crescent Lake, where an adult
Killdeer guards one very tiny youngster in the parking lot.

On Saturday, East Lake Washington Audubon had a field trip that covered areas
between Stampede Pass and the Trendwest property. 67 species were
seen/heard, including 7 warbler and 3 flycatcher species. Five active bird nests were
found, all with parents tending young. At Snoqualmie Pass, Fox Sparrow and
Lincoln's Sparrow sang conspicuously. More than 40 bird species were observed in
the first four hours of the trip.

I've talked with the property manager for the Mountain Star/Trendwest
property and it may be that the lower gate into the property will be closed for the
season this coming weekend due to the extreme fire danger. If not this
weekend, very soon thereafter.
