This morning I was doing a BBS route that includes Redwine Canyon Rd. At a stop .3 miles north from Redwine x Debord Rds I had a Flycatcher above my head. I first called it a willow. It had the large wide bill all orange underneath, no eye ring. Then the bird called "pip" twice. I immediately ID the call that of a Alder. I was concerned with the survey so I continued counting and the bird stayed where it was. After my three minutes I pished and owl called and the bird responded with several more calls. It did not sing. The wing length did not look that much different than some willow's I have seen. It did not look long. I then decided to back across the road to get a better look at the bird and it flew off. This all occurred in about a minute. I continued on my route (only a few stations left) then returned and spent 30 minutes without finding it. If some of you folks plan on birding the general area you might want to stop in this canyon and give it a try. It would be good if someone else locate it as well. Look along the east side of the road in the small riparian belt. Delorme pg 87, B5
