Like Connie (Sidles), I just had a piece of luck here near the Turning Basin on the Duwamish. (Thanks to Kevin Li for the info regarding this site--which I can now call by the proper name for this part of the Duwamish.) In my trek to another building, I thought I'd bring my scope in hopes I could see into the Osprey nest that's just north of the power substation on the west bank. As I rounded corner of my workplace (at 9:35am), I saw what I thought could be a PEREGRINE FALCON carrying prey to the top of the power tower next to the substation. Up scope!

The Peregrine had what appeared to be a chestnut-colored Rock Dove, and proceeded to pluck it. Within 15 minutes, the falcon started to feed. When I checked on the falcon again at 10:25, it had just a small part of the Rock Dove remaining. As I zoomed in, I saw an Osprey dive on the Peregrine, forcing it into the air. The Osprey pursued the Peregrine for just under a minute around the tower, part-way over the river, back around the tower, to the river, etc. Finally, the Peregrine (which I noticed appeared to be molting tail feathers) flew directly toward me, landing on the tower directly above me. It stayed for a couple of minutes, and then headed north. The Osprey flew to the nearby nest.

Speaking of which, I saw movement in the Osprey nest, which I took to be at least one young. (I could not see into the nest from the 5th floor of the building to which I went.)
