This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Saturday, July 5, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver

The rare bird alert continues for the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Sightings for Saturday, July 5:
The rare bird alert continues for the singing, male Rose-breasted
Grosbeak, which was again seen in Burnaby Mountain Park about 1/2
kilometer down the wider trail which is accessed from the lower
parking lot.

Friday, July 4:
In Pitt Meadows, there were 4 Eastern Kingbirds at the bend in Rennie
Road as well as 4 Gray Catbirds.

Thursday, July 3:
The Rose-breasted Grosbeak was in Burnaby Mountain Park.
3 Marbled Godwits were at the compensation lagoon at the Tsawwassen
jetty.

Wednesday, July 2:
The Rose-breasted Grosbeak was seen and heard singing this morning on
Burnaby Mountain Park at a trail going west from the lower parking
lot.

In Pitt Meadows, there were 2 Eastern Kingbirds along the Nature Dyke
Trail as well as 2 Bullock's Orioles, a Grey Catbird and an American
Redstart. 1 Mute Swan was in Pitt Lake along with a Caspian Tern.
Katzie Marsh had 24 Ring-necked Ducks, including 1 female with 8
young, which may be the first breeding record for the Lower Mainland.

There were 2 Purple Martins in Rocky Point Park in Port Moody and 4
Red-breasted Sapsuckers were in Pinecone, Burke Mountain Park.
