Once, I saw a Swainson's thrush eating suet at my feeder but I think
this behavior is highly uncharacteristic for such a skulker. Is it
possible that your acquaintance was seeing starlings?

Subject: Do Swainsons Thrush go after suet?

Hi all, I have started working at The Bird Feeder, both Puyallup and
University Place. Today I had a woman come in telling me how she had a
flock of Swainsons Thrush at her suet so much she quit putting it out. I
have never had them nest nearby, and wonder about this statement. Of
course the customer is always right, but.....
