Tweeters,
On a 4th of July weekend trip to Okanogan County, we spent time at Roger
Lake. The probable Alder Flycatcher sang it's 3-syllable song several times
right near the parking area according to an eastern birder who is very
familiar with the bird. Though we only got fleeting glimpses of the bird,
we all heard its distinctive pip call, in sharp contrast to the Willow
Flycatcher we had watched calling its Whit call earlier in the day. On the
trail to the Lake we also saw nesting 3-toed Woodpeckers.
At Tiffany Spring we enjoyed watching Boreal Chickadees feeding in the trees
and a Clark's Nutcracker hopping in the grass nearby.
