It's warming up quickly this morning (9:55-10:12am viewing), with the OSPREY adult standing with partially spread wings over the nest just north of the power substation. I believe I saw the head of a second nestling today. Future sightings will, I hope, confirm that. Many footprints in the mud across the river attested to one or more of the research folks having been in the area. (Note: I uncovered a marker today at the point where I normally view the river. No USGS or other agency stamp, but only this: N1292.67 E123.80.)

Other birds seen at this low-but-incoming-tide period:

Double-crested Cormorant (the first for quite a while)
Mallard (5, plus one additional female with 4 very young ducklings; poss hatched within last week)
Osprey (both adults plus 1, poss 2 young)
Killdeer (heard)
Glaucous-winged Gull (2)
Rock Dove (8)
Violet-green Swallow (3)
MARSH WREN (song from Hamm Creek area across the river; first I've heard here)
European Starling (5)

May all your birds be identified,
