Highlights included are:

California Quail with 3 chicks at Underwood
calling Virginia Rail at wildlife area at Home Valley Park answered tape
1 young Red-breasted Sapsucker at McCloud Rec. Area
several Olive-sided Flycatchers at FR 2329 along with lots of mosquitoes
Maybe our best out of place bird was 1 Dusky Flycatcher at Skamania Landing
Gray Jays checking out the campers food at Killen Creek Campground
Purple Martins on their nest boxes at Skamania Landing marina
Hermit Thrushes singing along FR 88
several Varied Thrushes along FR 2329 in several spots along this road
Black-throated Gray Warbler singing and saw just south of Willard
Hermit Warbler singing and answering tape, but not coming down to tape on FR 8821
Purple Finch singing at McCloud Rec. Area
Cassin's Finch singing near Adams Creek along FR 2329
Red Crossbills which were not type 3 or Ponderosa Pine Crossbills by call heard along FR 60
Any questions please feel free to ask since many of these Forest Service Roads in this area are tough to follow. We were hoping for Spruce Grouse, but saw only the mosquitoes that had seen Spruce Grouse. Takhlakh Lake is a very beautiful place.
